BDIA appoints new president

The British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) has elected experienced industry veteran Mike Cann as its new president.

Mr Cann, the managing director of Septodont, can boast 30 years of experience in the industry. He was elected as president at the BDIA's recent annual general meeting, succeeding the outgoing Terry Porter.

His responsibilities will include bolstering the profile of the annual BDIA Dental Showcase, which will be taking place at the NEC in Birmingham this year.

The president will also work towards ensuring the association continues to provide strong industry leadership, while delivering the best possible services and initiatives to members.

Mr Cann said he "looks forward to working closely with my fellow councillors and the staff and members of the association to build on the strong leadership that the organisation provides".

Meanwhile, Sonia Tracey, managing director of W&H UK, has been appointed as vice-president, while managing director of Panadent Peter Gowers was re-elected as the association's honorary treasurer.
