BDIA publishes post-Brexit manifesto for dental industry

3rd August 2016

The British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) has produced a new post-Brexit manifesto for the dental industry called Shaping the Future.

It lays out the organisation's views on how the government should be working to positively influence the future for oral health, dentistry and the dental industry following the UK's vote to leave the European Union.

Six main priority areas were highlighted, including creating a favourable business environment, investing in the nation's oral health, working to protect patients, spending more on the NHS, championing innovation and generally building towards a better future.

This document is now being circulated among key opinion-formers within the government, leading political parties and various state departments, as well as among senior civil servants and NHS leaders.

Edmund Proffitt, the BDIA's policy and public affairs director, said: "If the government can build the right regulatory environment and provide targeted investment in oral health, it can make a significant contribution to protecting the UK's oral health for years to come."

The BDIA has previously underlined the need for the UK's current high levels of patient safety and effective regulation of dental products to be maintained post-Brexit.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801823095-ADNFCR
