Beckman Coulter creates new division

14th August 2009

Beckman Coulter has announced the creation of a new company – Beckman Coulter Genomics.

Combining its newly-acquired asset Cogenics and Agencourt Bioscience, the firm’s new arm will offer researchers a single genomic services resource with wider global capabilities.

It will be dedicated to delivering high-quality results to genomic researchers collecting DNA and RNA samples for analysis.

Services such as sequencing, genotyping, sample preparation, gene expression, biological efficiency and safety testing will also be available through the newly-formed organisation.

Richard Creager, vice-president of immunoassay, molecular diagnostics and genomic services at the Beckman Coulter group, commented: "Through the creation of Beckman Coulter Genomics, we have successfully brought together the industry’s leading genomic service providers to offer our customers the highest quality data and analysis."

The company has been in the spotlight of late, as it announced last week that it has completed its acquisition of Olympus’ lab-based diagnostics business.
