Bedfont Scientific’s product monitors CO levels in smokers

26th May 2009

Bedfont Scientific’s Micro+ Smokerlyzer is the only monitor available to test the carbon monoxide (CO) inhaled from cigarettes by a range of different smokers.

It is designed to motivate nicotine addicts to quit by showing them how much of the poisonous gas they are breathing in.

The one-touch colour screen uses the recognised traffic light system of green, amber and red to show the smoker how dangerous the levels of the toxin are in them.

As well as converting the amount of CO in pregnant women and adults, it can also check it in teenagers.

The company noted most people try cigarettes before they are 18 years old.

“Bedfont’s range of monitors has a special adolescent setting that will allow advisors to give a reading in line with the smoker’s age and habits thus encouraging them to quit smoking – before they are fully addicted,” it said.

The business is offering smoking cessation advisors a ten per cent discount on the Micro+ Smokerlyzer if they place an order before June 21st.

Earlier this year, the company offered expectant mothers the chance to check the levels of carbon monoxide in their bodies.
