Beiersdorf achieves further growth during first half of 2014
Beiersdorf has announced its financial results for the first half of 2014, during which it maintained its recent strong business growth and momentum.
The company generated sales of 3.16 billion euros (2.51 billion pounds), representing a five percent organic growth rate or 0.2 percent in nominal terms. Both the consumer business segment and tesa contributed to this performance.
Key brands such as Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie all saw year-on-year improvements, with organic sales growth reflected across multiple regions.
As a result, Beiersdorf has confirmed its previously-stated outlook for 2014, which suggests group sales will grow by four to six percent, while its consolidated earnings margin is expected to be above 13 percent.
Stefan Heidenreich, chief executive officer of Beiersdorf, said: "We increased sales and earnings, and gained market shares in our relevant markets and key categories. We achieved this both in emerging markets and in Europe, despite sometimes difficult market conditions."
This comes after the firm opened a state-of-the-art production centre with an integrated research and development centre in Mexico, which will broaden its capabilities in north and central America.
