Beiersdorf announces company-wide Home Office Day in July

Beiersdorf has announced plans for a flexible work field test in July that will encourage all of its staff to work from home for a day.

The company's Home Office Day will take place on July 7th 2017 and will allow all of the around 2,500 people employed by Beiersdorf to work from home or another location of their choice outside the company premises.

This date coincides with the first day of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, meaning workers based at Beiersdorf's headquarters in the city will be able to the expected traffic congestion. However, the main goal is to provide all employees with experience of home working.

Staff working at all levels of the company will be preparing for the day throughout the April to June period to develop operating models and workflows that will be put into practice on July 7th.

Afterwards, employees and management will discuss their experiences of the day, with the best ideas for implementation to be awarded a prize.  

Zhengrong Liu, Beiersdorf's board member for HR and patron of the project, said: "Flexible work is a question of mindset and doesn't depend on appeals from above or rules. The shared experience of Home Office Day in July will increase employees' openness and trust among their supervisors."
