Beiersdorf boosts turnover and market share

11th September 2008

Beiersdorf has announced the financial results for its central and eastern European management unit for the first six months of the year.

During the first half of 2008, Beiersdorf generated revenues of 180 million euros (144 million pounds) in the region, an 11 per cent year-on-year rise.

The company’s market share in central and eastern Europe rose to 19.2 per cent on the back of the strength of its Nivea, Labello and Eucerin brands.

Dr Ulrich Schmidt, managing director of the business, said: “With almost 100 million people, the central and eastern European market shows an enormous potential for cosmetic items.”

He added that the company would focus on its strategic core brands and expects further growth in 2008 as a result of further innovations.

Earlier this month, the pharmacy supplier hailed the launch of its new Nivea for Men Hair products as a “new era” in the market.
