Beiersdorf highlights 2016 sustainability milestones in new report
Beiersdorf has published its 2016 Sustainability Report, highlighting the progress it has made on key environmental and corporate social responsibility goals in the last year.
During the year, the firm was able to generate 25 percent of its sales through products with significantly reduced environmental impact – a percentage that it is on track to increase to 50 percent by 2020.
Meanwhile, its goal of reducing CO2 by 30 percent per product sold was already achieved in 2015, leading to an ambitious new goal of increasing this to 70 percent by 2025 being developed in collaboration with WWF Germany last year.
Additionally, Beiersdorf was able to support 235,186 families around the world in 2016 through its social engagement programme NIVEA Cares For Family, plus other brand and corporate initiatives.
A total of 661,023 families have been supported in this way since 2013, meaning the company is progressing well towards its goal of one million families by 2020.
Inken Hollmann-Peters, vice-president for corporate communications and sustainability, said: "In 2016 we took a big step forward, since we were able to develop a new, ambitious climate goal. This gives us the chance to achieve significant progress in CO2 reduction by 2025."
