Beiersdorf relaunches Pearlfinder open innovation platform

17th December 2014

Beiersdorf has announced the relaunch of a newly-revised version of its open innovation platform Pearlfinder, with the aim of increasing its number of external cooperation partners.

The processes involved in the platform have been streamlined to make it even easier for registered users to submit ideas and to get in touch with Beiersdorf scientists, while guaranteeing high levels of confidentiality.

Pearlfinder has been helping Beiersdorf to connect with third-party cooperation partners for around four years, with 270 external partners currently registered. Around half of the submitted ideas and solutions are followed up annually.

The arrangement also benefits collaborators, especially smaller firms, as working with Beiersdorf researchers provides them with access to cutting-edge advances in skin research, skin care and consumer data.

Katrin Thiel, manager of Beiersdorf's open innovation platform, said: "Our community includes suppliers from diverse industries as well as institutes, universities and scientists. With Pearlfinder we enable a collaborative and confidential exchange in a secure environment."

Earlier this year, one of the company's key collaborators, Dr Stefan Hell, was awarded the Nobel Prize for chemistry.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801766513-ADNFCR
