Beiersdorf reports profitable performance in first half of 2017

22nd August 2017

Beiersdorf has announced its financial results for the first half of 2017, during which the company was able to outperform the market in terms of its organic group sales.

The company achieved a sales total of 3.51 billion euros (3.22 billion pounds), which represented a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent in nominal terms, or 3.3 percent rise in organic terms.

The firm delivered a strong profitable performance during the first six months of the year, while its earnings improved by 9.3 percent to 561 million euros, marking a new record for Beiersdorf.

Its Nivea, Eucerin, Hansaplast and La Prairie brands all delivered improved sales performances, with the second quarter of the year proving especially strong in sales terms, even when accounting for the attack on the company's IT systems at the end of June.

Based on its current forecasts, Beiersdorf expects group sales to grow by three to four per cent during the 2017 financial year.

Stefan Heidenreich, chief executive officer of Beiersdorf, said: "Beiersdorf continued on its profitable growth path in the first six months of 2017. We have once again increased our sales, and our growth rate outperformed the market."
