Beiersdorf to take part in education venture

12th May 2010

Beiersdorf has announced that it is to take part in a charitable project to promote education among socially disadvantaged children around the world.

The company’s Nivea brand has allied with the global children’s aid organisation Plan International to launch the partnership, with Beiersdorf set to provide financial grants, volunteer assistance and material donations.

Beiersdorf has also been able to attract the involvement of Joachim Loew, coach of the German national football team and Nivea for Men care coach, to sponsor a children’s sports programme in Rwanda.

Thomas Quaas, chairman of the executive board of Beiersdorf, stated that the company will be aiming to support the initiative for the long term.

He said: “Through this global initiative for the future of children, we mark the beginning of a new phase of social involvement, an area of great concern for Beiersdorf since the very beginning of its history.”

Earlier this month, the company published its financial report for the first quarter of the year, during which its sales grew by six per cent year-on-year.
