Beiersdorf’s 2009 income ‘satisfied expectations’
Beiersdorf has posted its preliminary financial results for fiscal 2009, revealing that its income met expectations for the period.
The group revealed that its preliminary figures for the timeframe show sales of 5.748 million euros (5.161 million pounds) – a drop from the 5.971 million euros reported in 2008.
However, on a like-for-like basis, sales decreased only slightly – 0.7 per cent – on last year’s “very strong figures”, the firm stated.
The organisation’s consumer business segment reported organic growth of 1.2 per cent and generated sales of 5.011 million euros, down from 5.125 million euros last year.
Chief executive of Beiersdorf Thomas Quaas commented: “The group will continue to be a success and increase its global market share […] Beiersdorf will again grow faster than the market in 2010.”
In November, the organisation announced that scientists at the Beiersdorf research centre have built upon their knowledge of human sweating, discovering the single protein molecule responsible for the odours it provokes.
