Bio-Rad announces two Quest partnerships

18th July 2007

Bio-Rad Laboratories has revealed it is to collaborate with Quest Diagnostics to place its BioPlex 2200 ANA system and HIV-1/HIV-2 Plus O EIA assay in research facilities across the US.

The two partnerships are to increase Quest’s capabilities to diagnose HIV-positive patients, according to Bio-Rad.

Quest is to become the first national reference laboratory to offer the BioPlex 2200 ANA system to its physicians and patients, Bio-Rad stated.

"We are excited to work with Quest Diagnostics," said Bio-Rad president and chief executive officer Norman Schwartz.

He added that the company "are confident that the BioPlex 2200 system will serve them well by enhancing their already outstanding reputation for high quality testing and excellent service to their clients".

The BioPlex 2200 ANA screen received approval from the Food and Drug Administration in November 2005, Bio-Rad announced.

Meanwhile, the HIV-1/HIV-2 Plus O EIA assay was approved in August 2003 for the detection of antibodies relating to the immunosuppressant virus.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18215371-ADNFCR
