Biogen names new chief financial officer

Biogen has named Jeffrey Capello as its new executive vice-president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective as of December 11th.

Mr Capello brings 26 years of experience in finance to the role, having most recently served as executive vice-president and CFO of Beacon Health Options. He also previously founded and ran his own company, Monomy Advisors, and served as CFO of Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Boston Scientific and PerkinElmer.

In his new role, he will take responsibility for leading Biogen's business planning, tax, treasury, internal audit, accounting and investor relations functions, as well as serving on the firm's executive committee.

Michel Vounatsos, chief executive officer of Biogen, said: "He comes to Biogen at an exciting time as we execute our business strategy, pursue business development opportunities and build our pipeline."

This appointment follows the recent announcement that Chirfi Guindo has taken up the newly-created role of executive vice-president and head of global marketing, market access and customer innovation at Biogen.
