Biogen names new head of marketing, market access and innovation

Biogen has announced the appointment of Chirfi Guindo to the newly-created role of executive vice-president and head of global marketing, market access and customer innovation.

Mr Guindo can boast 27 years of experience in the global pharmaceutical industry, having held several leadership positions at Merck Sharp and Dohme, including in finance, sales and marketing, general management, and global strategy and product development.

In his new role at Biogen, he will lead the company's marketing and asset teams on a global basis, while also overseeing market access and customer innovation, and taking up a position on the firm's executive committee.

Specifically, he will be looking to leverage his extensive experience to ensure that Biogen is able to deliver greater value to patients, customers and society.

Michel Vounatsos, chief executive officer of Biogen, said: "I look forward to working together as we further Biogen's leadership in multiple sclerosis and spinal muscular atrophy, plan for our Alzheimer's disease franchise and pursue future pipeline opportunities."
