Biogen names new vice-president of government affairs
Biogen has announced the appointment of Amy Chevalier Efantis as its new vice-president of government affairs.
Ms Efantis joins the company from Boehringer Ingelheim, where she led its Washington-based government affairs and public policy team in the role of executive director and head of office.
She was also a senior director for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, working on strategies related to legislation impacting the industry, while prior to her move to biopharma, she worked in US politics.
Overall, Ms Efantis can boast more than two decades of legislative, public policy and advocacy experience in the biopharma industry and the public sector, and will now lead Biogen's federal and state government affairs activities from Washington DC.
Susan Alexander, executive vice-president for corporate services at Biogen, said: "Her experience will be invaluable in our ongoing efforts to promote access to life-changing therapies in multiple sclerosis, to implement newborn screening for spinal muscular atrophy and to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of Alzheimer's disease."
Ms Efantis will take up her role on July 17th, the same day that the previously-announced appointments of Catherine Steele as senior vice-president of corporate affairs and Ginger Gregory as chief HR officer take effect.
