Biohit sees growth in first half of 2011

Biohit has published its interim report for the first half of 2011, during which the company saw net sales growth of 6.1 percent.

The healthcare company's sales total for the six month period came to 20.5 million euros (17.8 million pounds), with a 10.2 million euro figure generated in the second quarter, representing a 2.4 percent jump.

Liquid handling operations saw strong demand, particularly in the area of mechanical pipettes, while Europe, Russia and China were underlined as growth territories during the period.

Meanwhile, the company is also progressing with the international expansion of its diagnostics business and is seeking distributor partners.

Jussi Heinio, president and chief executive officer of Biohit, said: "As stated in our strategy, we will continue our cost saving efforts and we aim at investing in profitable growth."
