bioMerieux launched food safety handbook

Industrial microbiology control firm bioMerieux has launched a new guide for food professionals.

The Food Safety Handbook: Microbiology Challenges contains contributions from 24 "internationally-renowned" experts.

According to the firm, the handbook provides analysis of microbiological food safety issues, including foodborne pathogens and new diagnostic tools.

Alexandre Merieux, vice president of industrial microbiology at the company, said: "Food safety concerns all of us and has important implications not only for public health but also for international trade in agriculture and food."

It is an "extremely complex field", he continued, adding that the handbook ought to be a "valuable resource" for those within the sector.

The company claims that its mission is to help to improve public health through the use of in vitro diagnostics.

It states that its experience in the field of infectious diseases enables the company to provide a response to health issues, while its operations in 150 countries means that it can tailor its products to specific regions.
