Biomerieux launches new media

Biomerieux has launched two new products to detect food-borne pathogens.

The in vitro-diagnostics firm claims its "innovative" chromogenic culture media, chromID Sakazakii and chromID Vibrio, will enhance food safety solutions.

Alexandre Meriuex, the firm’s vice president, said: "Protecting consumer safety is a priority for Bioerieux, and we are pleased to be able to offer an innovative technology for detecting two food-borne pathogens that cause severe infection."

Biomerieux claims to have been a world leader in its field for over 45 years, it is present in more than 150 countries through 387 subsidiaries. In 2007, its revenues reached 1,063 billion euros.

Meanwhile, the firm unveiled a new suite of full microbiology laboratory automation solutions at an industry meeting this month.

It showcased three new platforms at the 108th general meeting of the American Society for Microbiology in Boston.
