BioMerieux sees strong double-digit sales growth in Q1 2017
BioMerieux has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2017, delivering a 568 million euro (478.95 million pounds) sales total for the period.
This represents a year-on-year increase of 13.7 percent at constant exchange rates and scope of consolidation, or 16.3 percent in reported terms. All of its strategic lines contributed to this performance, with equipment sales rising sharply.
A "remarkable" performance by BioMerieux's FilmArray brand was cited as a key driver of growth, with a more intense and longer-lasting flu season in the US and Europe driving up sales of the FilmArray respiratory panel, while the meningitis/encephalitis and gastrointestinal panels also performed well.
Additionally, accelerated growth was recorded for the Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, alongside continued fast-paced expansion in the Americas.
Alexandre Merieux, chief executive officer of BioMerieux, said: "Building on our full-year 2016 results, the first-quarter 2017 performance reflects our astute positioning and supports our long-term strategy."
