Biomet announces “strong sales”

15th July 2009

Biomet enjoyed “strong sales” during its last fiscal year, it has announced.

Jeffrey Binder, president and chief executive officer of the company, made his comments as the firm released the financial results for its fourth quarter and the year ended May 31st 2009.

During the final three-month period in question, net sales rose by one per cent to $639.3 million (390.8 million pounds).

Meanwhile, net sales from the firm’s reconstructive segment – not including dental implants – increased by three per cent in the same timeframe.

“In addition to our strong sales driven by new products and good sales execution, we made significant progress with our value creation program and maintained good discipline in operational expense management,” Mr Binder added.

Last month, Biomet and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation announced this year’s graduate medical education fellowship grants.

Awards were given to 31 parties in a range of different orthopedic surgical specialties, including trauma surgery and sports medicine.
