Bioquell a member of team awarded US defence contract

3rd October 2007

Bioquell yesterday announced that it is part of a team that has been awarded a contract associated with the US Department of Defence (DoD).

As part of the Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) team, Bioquell will be involved in the DoD’s Joint Material Decontamination System (JMDS).

The company states that it has been informed by TBE that the team has been awarded the system development and demonstration stage of the JMDS contract – estimated to be worth some $14.7 million (7.2 million pounds) – and Bioquell’s share is projected to be some $7 million.

JMDS requires the ability to decontaminate the interiors of vehicles, aircrafts, ships and fixed-site facilities that have undergone exposure to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear warfare agents as well as delicate equipment, asserts the firm.

Bioquell states that those using JMDS will include the US air force, navy, army and marine corps.

Last month, Bioquell reaffirmed the effectiveness of its hydrogen peroxide vapour technology after prime minister Gordon Brown stated that every NHS hospital is to be deep cleaned.
