Biotest appoints new research and regulatory managers
Biotest has announced the appointment of two new members to its management team, as part of efforts to realign its global research and medical/regulatory affairs divisions.
Under the new plans, Dr Jorg Schuttrumpf has been appointed as the company's new head of global research, taking responsibility for early research and development in the important areas of immunology, haematology and intensive care.
He has been with the company since July 2012 and is a specialist in the fields of coagulation research and transfusion medicine, making him Biotest's first choice for the management role.
Meanwhile, Professor Dr Markus Rothenburger, a renowned medical expert who was formerly employed by Novartis and Fresenius Kabi, will be joining the company at the beginning of 2013 as head of medical/regulatory affairs.
Biotest chairman Professor Dr Gregor Schulz said: "The recruitment of top professionals for both of these important positions means that we are well positioned for research and development within the management level below the board level."
Earlier this month, the company commenced a clinical development programme for a human fibrinogen concentrate therapy for use in the treatment of serious, life-threatening bleeding.
