Biotest reports ‘positive’ first half performance in 2010

13th August 2010

Biotest has published its financial report for the first half of 2010, during which it made positive progress towards growth targets despite challenging market conditions.

The healthcare and science firm's revenue grew by four per cent year-on-year during the six month period to 227.1 million euros (186.6 million pounds), although earnings were down compared to last year.

According to Biotest, business was impacted by factors such as pressure on the prices for plasma proteins, in which it is seeing increasing signs of stabilisation.

The company also highlighted the "important progress" it has made towards its product research programmes, such as its work with the monoclonal antibody therapies BT-061 and BT-062.

It said: "The research and development projects in all segments are proceeding according to plan."

These latest figures confirm the findings of Biotest's preliminary report for the half, published last month, in which chairman of the management board Professor Dr Gregor Schulz expressed confidence that the firm's "good prospects" will not be impaired by a short-term dip.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800024400-ADNFCR
