Biotronik launches new version of Galeo coronary guidewires
Biotronik has announced the launch of updated versions of its Galeo coronary guidewires in Europe.
Inspired by the original Galeo design, the new wires received CE Mark approval in July 2015 and offers enhanced torque response and an optimised tactile feel within the vessel.
A hydrophobic coating over the entire distal section of the guidewire helps to improve this tactility, while its single-piece core wire means there is a direct connection between the core wire and the distal coil, keeping the core wire centred while navigating complex anatomy.
This combination of features provides precise steerability, with a wide range of tip stiffnesses and levels of support available.
Dr Alexander Uhl, vice-president for marketing at Biotronik's vascular intervention division, said: "We have listened to physicians' feedback and created a true workhorse guidewire to round out our unsurpassed portfolio of coronary intervention solutions."
The initial procedures with the updated Galeo guide wire were performed in five countries, based on which more than 120 product uses were evaluated.
