Biotronik receives CE Mark for PK Papyrus stent

11th November 2013

Biotronik has announced that its PK Papyrus covered coronary stent system has been granted European CE Mark approval.

The device has been ratified for use in the treatment of acute coronary artery perforation, after clinical trials showed that it is highly effective with optimum deliverability.

It features an innovative electrospun membrane that allows for a single-layer covered stent design, instead of the traditional sandwich technique used in comparable stents on the market.

Meanwhile, its wide size range enables a broad range of vessels to be treated confidently and efficiently.

Dr Alexander Uhl, vice-president of marketing for Biotronik's vascular intervention division, said: "The application of this electrospinning technology to the already highly deliverable Biotronik Orsiro/Pro-Kinetic Energy stent platform has allowed us to introduce a novel product to the market."

This comes after the company reported positive clinical data from a new study last week that confirmed the superior performance of its Pulsar-18 self-expanding stent system.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801659297-ADNFCR
