Biotronik study shows benefits of Home Monitoring for heart failure patients

25th June 2014

Biotronik has announced the findings of a new study that demonstrates the advantages associated with using its Home Monitoring system in the management of heart failure patients.

During a scientific symposium at this year's Cardiostim Congress, evidence was presented that Home Monitoring was able to considerably improve patients' clinical results by making early detection and intervention far easier to accomplish.

Results from the IN-TIME study showed Biotronik's technology was associated with a 50 percent decline in all-cause mortality in heart failure patients, regardless of whether they had an implantable defibrillator or a cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) device.

It was also shown to play a positive role in identifying patients who do not respond to CRT, meaning therapy can be adjusted more promptly.

Dr Gerhard Hindricks of the Heart Center at the University of Leipzig said: "The IN-TIME study demonstrates that by transmitting timely information about changes in patient status, Home Monitoring enables physicians to react quickly and optimise patient therapy."

This was one of a number of presentations given at the Cardiostim 2014 electrophysiology and cardiology congress. It also took the opportunity to showcase its new cardiac stimulation device Qubic Stim.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801730940-ADNFCR
