Biotronik supports development of new EHRA White Book supplement

6th September 2016

Biotronik has announced the launch of a new supplement to the ninth annual European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) White Book.

The EHRA worked with the EP Europace journal and Biotronik to develop the white book, which collects and distributes information on the yearly number of cardiac rhythm device implantations and catheter ablations in European Society of Cardiology member countries.

With the launch of the new EP Europace Supplement, users will receive deeper analysis of the data, showing how atrial fibrillation ablations and cardiac resynchronisation therapy use are on the rise, as well as highlighting continued inequalities in implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy across Europe.

Gaining insights into this data will make it easier for countries to address the finance, manpower, resources or training issues that are creating these inequalities.

Robert Wustenberg, who led the EHRA White Book project at Biotronik, said: "The results of nine years of continued support are clear – a robust body of data shows not just single point inequalities, but real historical developments that can support decision making in various areas."

Biotronik  has supported the production of the EHRA White Book through an unrestricted educational grant since the first edition in 2008.
