Biotronik to donate cardiac devices to charity

17th May 2010

Biotronik has agreed to make a charitable donation of cardiac devices to an organisation which provides healthcare for the underprivileged.

The medical device company has made what it described as a “significant commitment” to donating its products to Heartbeat International Foundation (HBI), a global charity which has been operating for 55 years.

It works in impoverished areas of countries such as India, China, Honduras and Pakistan, providing devices such as pacemakers to patients who would not be able to afford them otherwise.

Marlou Janssen, Biotronik’s global vice-president of marketing and sales, said this collaboration is indicative of the company’s commitment to corporate responsibility and the principle of “excellence for life”.

She added: “HBI is truly an admirable organisation for the work it does around the world and we are honoured to partner with them in their ongoing efforts to save lives.”

Last week, Biotronik launched the new TactiCath catheter device, which is designed to allow conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation to be managed more safely.
