Biotronik’s? ?E-Series? ?pacemakers? ?receive? ?first? ?European? ?usage? ?in? ?UK

3rd August 2016

Biotronik has announced that one of its new E-Series pacemaker devices has received its first European usage in the UK.

The product line was recently granted European CE Mark approval, with an Enitra 8 HF-T QP device having now been implanted in a female patient with a history of heart failure and complete heart block.

Since the anatomy of the patient and the venous access presented a challenge, the small size of Enitra and the quadripolar left ventricular lead proved to be instrumental in the success of the procedure.

Other key features of the E-Series devices include their 14-year expected battery life and the award-winning MRI AutoDetect sensor, allowing the pacemaker to automatically detect when it is in an MRI environment and automatically switch to ProMRI mode.

The MRI AutoDetect feature recently won the Cardiostim Innovation Award for best practice improvement.

Charlotte Pompei at Biotronik UK said: "The small size of Enitra allows for easy handling by physicians, leaves a very good cosmetic result for the patient. Their day-to-day comfort will be noticeably better, too."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801823087-ADNFCR
