Biotronik’s Home Monitoring shows clinical benefits in new study

12th February 2013

Biotronik has revealed data from a new study called MoniC that provides further evidence of the benefits offered by its Home Monitoring system.

The trial was carried out in Germany and evaluated the feasibility, safety, workload and clinical usefulness of a centralised web-based Home Monitoring model among pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator patients.

It was found that Biotronik's technology was able to improve patient care and also act as an effective and efficient clinical tool, allowing anomalies in patients' cardiac health to be instantly communicated to medical staff via appropriate alerts.

Christoph Bohmer, president international at Biotronik, said: "This trial clearly demonstrates the large potential for efficiency gains and therapy improvements, which are important parameters for healthcare decision makers."

Last month, the company announced that a new trial of its Lumax DX implantable cardioverter-defibrillator has been launched, with the aim of assessing the device's performance in the detection and management of atrial fibrillation.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801539326-ADNFCR
