Biotronik’s new Singapore facility commences manufacturing
Biotronik has commenced manufacturing activities at its new centre in Singapore as it seeks to bolster its Asia Pacific supply chain.
The new facility will complement its existing centres in Europe and the US and positions manufacturing close to growing Asia Pacific markets. Biotronik's headquarters in the region have been located in Singapore since 2012.
Featuring a 1,500 sq m ISO class 7 cleanroom, the site will supply the global market with products for its vascular intervention and cardiac rhythm management businesses, producing the world's first hybrid drug-eluting coronary stent Orsiro, along with Solia pacemaker leads.
The company plans to create more than 200 jobs for highly-trained operators and professionals in research and development and senior leadership roles, investing over 30 million Singapore dollars (16.94 million pounds) into operations in the country over the next few years.
Erik Trip, managing director for Asia Pacific manufacturing at Biotronik, said: "We are building a professional team at the new site and will eventually create hundreds of new jobs in this exciting industry. This investment will support Biotronik's dynamic growth, both in the Asia Pacific region and globally."
