BMG Labtech wins award for FLUOstar Omega microplate reader

BMG Labtech's FLUOstar Omega multimode microplate reader has been honoured for its performance and flexibility with an industry award.

The company's device has won the title of Drug Discovery Product of the Year 2010 from the online publication Select Science, following a vote by independent users from the laboratory science community.

FLUOstar Omega utilises the firm's Tandem technology to deliver a wide range of different functions in fields such as basic research, assay development and life science studies.

BMG Labtech lists fluorescence intensity, UV/Vis full spectrum absorbance and luminescence among the different factors which can be monitored by the award-winning unit.

It stated: "The FLUOstar Omega provides you with the best combination of performance and flexibility for all of your life science and research and development applications."

Earlier this month, the science firm launched a new microplate reader called the SPECTROstar Nano, which is optimised for the precise and intuitive analysis of absorbance assays.
