BMI Healthcare consultant wins prize at Independent Healthcare Awards
BMI Healthcare has announced that Ian Jenkins, a consultant colorectal surgeon at BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow, has won a prestigious industry accolade.
The medical professional has won an outstanding contribution prize at the 2013 Independent Healthcare Awards for his work in the field of enhanced recovery techniques for colorectal patients.
Since 2006, all of Mr Jenkins' colorectal patients undergoing major surgery at the facility have been utilising a recovery method that sees them out of bed, exercising, eating and drinking after surgery, thereby greatly reducing the length of their hospital stays.
BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital has now had nominees in the Independent Healthcare Awards for the past four years.
Jan Hale, executive director at the hospital, said: "I would like to again congratulate Mr Jenkins and his team, who work alongside him to deliver the gold standard of patient care for colorectal patients in the UK."
This comes after Annie Ollivierre-Smith, an employee of BMI The London Independent Hospital, became the first private sector nurse ever to win the nurse of the year at the recent Nursing Times Awards.
