BMI Healthcare nursing director wins healthcare pioneer award
BMI Healthcare has announced that Felicia Kwaku, director of nursing at its Clementine Churchill Hospital, has been presented with a healthcare pioneer award.
Ms Kwaku has been named as one of the leading 50 black and minority ethnic (BME) pioneers in the UK at the Health Service Journal's inaugural Black and Minority Ethnic Pioneers programme.
It recognises the BME leaders who are forging a career and reputation in the healthcare sector and are acting as role models and inspiration to the younger generation. Ms Kwaku was selected due to her status as one of only three BME directors of nursing across the NHS and independent sector in England.
She has shown dedication to promoting equality in her chosen career and is committed to serving the needs of patients, while enhancing safety and clinical governance standards.
Jan Hale, executive director at BMI The Clementine Churchill Hospital, said: "I would like to again congratulate her and hope that she can inspire more people from a BME background to aim for senior management positions in the healthcare sector."
This comes after Ian Jenkins, a consultant colorectal surgeon at the Clementine Churchill Hospital, won an outstanding contribution prize at the 2013 Independent Healthcare Awards last month.
