Boehringer Ingelheim and CZ Veterinaria partner on sow vaccine launch
Boehringer Ingelheim has announced a new partnership with CZ Veterinaria to commercialise a new sow vaccine for the European swine vaccine market.
Developed and registered by CZ Veterinaria, Entericolix is designed to prevent diarrhoea in piglets caused by E. coli. and C. perfringens type C, and is unique in offering 21 days of immunity, even after the piglets have been weaned.
Having been successfully registered through the decentralised procedure in 20 European countries, the vaccine will be exclusively marketed through Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health's swine distribution network.
The firm will also provide technical support to users, thereby strengthening its reputation as an industry expert in the field of enteric swine diseases.
Dr Erick Lelouche, head of global marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, said: "Entericolix is a very innovative vaccine which perfectly supports our goal of strengthening our vaccine line for enteric diseases, thus providing additional value to customers in Europe."
The company will soon be expanding its capabilities in the animal health market further through the acquisition of Merial, as part of an asset swap deal with Sanofi.
