Boehringer Ingelheim and Peking University form research partnership
Boehringer Ingelheim has announced a new strategic partnership with Peking University in China aimed at advancing early science innovation across a range of areas.
The multifaceted collaboration model will consist of project-based research, a joint postdoctoral fellowship programme and a number of Boehringer Ingelheim-endowed investigators.
Cancer immunology and immune modulation, respiratory, cardiometabolic and central nervous system diseases will all be among the subjects of research, as well as new therapeutic approaches such as regenerative medicine and gene therapy.
This will help to strengthen Boehringer Ingelheim's portfolio of early and unique pipeline projects, while also aligning with its strategy of building on its research and development efforts in Asia.
Dr Clive Wood, senior corporate vice-president for discovery research at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: "The flexible partnership model developed allows Peking University and Boehringer Ingelheim scientists to work hand in hand to jointly advance promising biomedical discoveries."
Other recent China-centric research efforts include a joint project with the China Southeast University Institute of Life Sciences, which is aimed at delivering new treatment approaches for hearing loss through the regeneration of hair cells.
