Boehringer Ingelheim signs cooperation agreement with Hisoar

26th August 2008

Pharmacy supplier Boehringer Ingelheim has signed a strategic partnership agreement with pharmaceutical production company Hisoar.

Under the terms of the agreement, Boehringer Ingelheim will provide Hisoar with technical support for production and expertise, while Hisoar will reciprocate by investing in new production facilities for Boehringer Ingelheim at its site in Chuannan in China.

Production is due to kick off at the site early next year.

Dr Hans-Jurgen Leuchs, member of the board of managing directors responsible for the corporate board division operations of Boehringer Ingelheim, said: “Boehringer Ingelheim is looking forward to a fruitful cooperation with our Chinese partner.”

He added his hopes the deal results in greater flexibility and reduced production timelines.

Earlier this month, Boehringer Ingelheim announced the early closure of its Spring and Ticino trials of tipranavir.

The company said both these trials had been terminated as a result of poor enrolment, rather than any safety or efficacy concerns, with the European Medicines Agency backing this decision.
