Boston Scientific announces takeover of Cosman Medical

Boston Scientific has announced the acquisition of Massachusetts-based Cosman Medical for an undisclosed fee.

Cosman Medical is a leading manufacturer of radiofrequency ablation systems and will be combined with Boston Scientific's neuromodulation business, which offers a range of spinal cord stimulator and deep brain stimulation systems.

The firm believes the acquisition represents a natural extension of its current product portfolio and will allow it to provide a broader range of options to address chronic pain with non-opioid therapeutic treatments.

Cosman Medical's product line is built on industry-leading technology and has a strong reputation for its high quality.

Maulik Nanavaty, senior vice-president and president of neuromodulation at Boston Scientific, said: "This acquisition is a natural extension of our current product portfolio and will help us provide physicians and patients more options to address chronic pain with non-opioid therapeutic treatments."

This comes after the fim announced the appointment of Yoshiaki Fujimori to its board of directors earlier this month.
