Boston Scientific appoints interventional cardiology CMO

8th January 2014

Boston Scientific has announced the appointment of Dr Craig Thompson as the new senior vice-president and chief medical officer (CMO) of its interventional cardiology division.

Dr Thompson is a global leader in complex cardiac interventions, previously serving as director of invasive cardiology and vascular medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, as well as associate professor of medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.

He will be tasked with helping to drive the development of innovative medical solutions within the business, leveraging his clinical and academic expertise, as well as his experience in serving as an advisor for several cardiovascular device companies.

Earlier in his career, he participated in the development of the BridgePoint coronary chronic total occlusion system acquired by Boston Scientific in 2012.

Kevin Ballinger, president of interventional cardiology at Boston Scientific, said: "As a pioneer in advanced coronary and vascular procedures and related device development, Craig's expertise is a valuable asset."

This comes after Daniel Brennan took over as executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Boston Scientific last week.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801680084-ADNFCR
