Boston Scientific to present trial data on stent systems

15th September 2010

Boston Scientific is to present data demonstrating the effectiveness of its Promus and Taxus stent systems at an upcoming medical conference.

The firm will be attending the Cardiovascular Research Foundation's 22nd annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics scientific symposium to report results from clinical trials such as Platinum and Perseus.

These studies have been used to gauge the efficacy of the Promus Element and Taxus Element stents among sufferers of various different conditions, including heart disease and diabetes.

Dr Keith Dawkins, senior vice-president and chief medical officer for Boston Scientific's cardiology, rhythm and vascular group, stated that the data will support the performance of the products, which he said have been "well-received" in Europe.

He added: "We also anticipate positive data from the Taxus Atlas trials, assessing the long-term performance of our Taxus Liberte stents in patients with workhorse and complex lesions."

Last month, the company commenced a clinical study of its new Neuroform EZ stent, in order to test its effectiveness among sufferers of wide-necked aneurysms.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800065814-ADNFCR
