Boston Scientific underlines positives in first quarter report

29th April 2010

Boston Scientific has highlighted the positive progress made by the company in what it described as a “challenging” first quarter of 2010.

Although the company’s net sales total of $1.96 billion (1.3 billion pounds) for the three-month period represented a six per cent year-on-year decline, it was nevertheless able to achieve “exceptional” cash flow levels.

Other examples of progress made by the company in the first quarter include the increased worldwide sales of its endoscopy, urology and women’s health portfolio, as well as its continued leadership in the global drug-eluting stent market.

Based on the results of the first quarter, Boston Scientific is now predicting that its net sales for the full year will total between $7.6 billion and $8 billion.

Earlier this month, the medical device company agreed a deal with specialist firm Bladder Health Network that will see Boston Scientific gain commercialisation rights to a number of female urodynamic testing solutions.
