Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer to present Eliquis data at ESC 2016

Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer will be attending this year's European Society of Cardiology (ESC) annual congress, where they will be presenting the latest clinical findings on Eliquis.

A total of 19 abstracts are planned for presentation at the congress, which is to be held from August 27th to 31st in Rome, including data from post-hoc analyses from the ARISTOTLE trial and several retrospective real-world data analyses.

These come as part of broader efforts to gain a better understanding of how Eliquis benefits patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and venous thromboembolism, with many of the real-world data analyses organised as part of ACROPOLIS, a global research programme evaluating the effectiveness and safety of apixaban in routine clinical practice.

Dr Jack Lawrence, vice-president for cardiovascular specialty development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, said: "As patient and provider needs continue to evolve, it's essential that we deepen our understanding of how medicines are working in real-world situations."

Pfizer and Bristol-Myers Squibb commenced a worldwide collaboration to develop and commercialise Eliquis back in 2007. The oral anticoagulant was originally discovered by Bristol-Myers Squibb, with the alliance bringing its strengths in cardiovascular drug development together with Pfizer's global scale and expertise in this field.
