Bristol-Myers Squibb announces new director
Bristol-Myers Squibb, the global pharmaceutical company, has confirmed that a new director has been appointed to the board.
Togo D West Jr has now joined the board of directors and will serve as a member of the compensation and management development committee and the committee on directors and corporate governance.
Mr West, who has previously held the positions of US secretary of the army and US secretary of veterans’ affairs, has also worked for a number of law firms and serves on the boards of two other companies.
“We are very excited to have Togo join our board. He is a proven leader with an impressive track record in both the private and government sectors,” said James D Robinson III, the chairman of Bristol-Myers Squibb.
He added that Mr West is an “insightful executive” whose experience will be invaluable to the board of the firm as it develops its next-generation bio-pharma work.
In the firm’s 2006 annular report, Bristol-Myers Squibb reported global sales of $17.9 billion (9.13 billion pounds).
