Bristol Myers-Squibb appoints new senior vice-president

Bristol Myers-Squibb has announced the appointment of Saurabh Saha, M.D., Ph.D., as senior vice president and global head of translational medicine for the company's research and development division.

The appointment will take place with immediate effect, with the appointment being heralded by executive vice-president and chief scientific officer Tom Lynch. 

He said: “Enhancing our translational medicine capability is critical to achieving our mission, and we are excited to add Dr. Saha’s broad leadership experience and deep scientific expertise to our team."

Mr Lynch explained that Dr Saha will be responsible for "translational research" across various therapeutic areas to help the company fulfil its goal of ensuring that each patient gets the correct drug dispensation at all times. 

Dr Saha joins from Atlas ventures and previously founded BioMed Valley Discoveries. He will be based at the research facility in Walmington, Massachusetts until the new base at Cambridge opens next year. 

He holds an MD and PHD in cancer genetics from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
