Bristol-Myers Squibb appoints oncology expert to board of directors
Bristol-Myers Squibb has announced the appointment of Dr Thomas Lynch as a member of the science and technology committee of its board of directors.
Dr Lynch, the current director of the Yale Cancer Center and physician-in-chief of the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, will take up his new role with Bristol-Myers Squibb on January 1st 2014.
A respected oncology expert, he is also the Richard Sackler and Jonathan Sackler Professor of Medical Oncology at Yale-New Haven, having held these positions since 2009.
Previously, he was employed by Harvard Medical School and has worked extensively with Massachusetts General Hospital, occupying key posts at its cancer centre and thoracic oncology departments.
Lamberto Andreotti, chief executive officer of Bristol-Myers Squibb, said: "As we advance our work in immuno-oncology and build our leadership position in oncology, his guidance and scientific and business perspectives will be invaluable."
This comes after the firm appointed Giovanni Caforio and Charles Bancroft to new positions within its senior management team last month.
