Burson-Marsteller appoints new senior adviser

26th April 2010

Burson-Marsteller has announced that communications industry veteran Bjorn Edlund is to take up a new role as senior adviser for the media agency.

Mr Edlund has worked in news agency journalism since 1977 and was formerly the head of corporate communications at Sandoz, as well as working with clients such as Novartis and Schering while in charge of his own marketing consultancy firm.

His most recent role was that of executive vice-president and head of group communications at Royal Dutch Shell, a position from which he retired earlier this year.

Jeremy Galbraith, chief executive officer of Burson-Marsteller in the EMEA region, described the appointment of Mr Edlund as a “real coup” for the company.

He added: “He brings vast experience of dealing with some of the toughest communications challenges faced by a wide variety of sectors.”

Last month, Burson-Marsteller announced the appointment of Helene Ellison as global chair of its healthcare practice, bringing with her 30 years’ worth of pharmaceutical communications industry experience.
