Capella PR to support launch of Zapp mobile payments service

Capella PR has won a brief with mobile payments service Zapp to help coordinate its forthcoming UK launch.

The agency will be tasked initially with raising the profile of the service among the financial and retail communities ahead of the consumer debut of Zapp in 2014, targeting news stories at national, broadcast and trade media while running a profiling and thought leadership campaign.

Zapp is a wholly-owned independent subsidiary of the UK payments provider VocaLink and allows people to make real-time payments using their mobile phones, minus the hassle of new digital wallets or extra passwords.

Capella was selected for this brief based on its proven track record of offering disruptive thinking, according to Zapp marketing head Justin Basini.

Gareth Thomas, founder of Capella PR, said: "People have talked about mobile payment for years, but most solutions have lacked the credibility of Zapp, which is already backed by many of the major players in the industry."
