Cardinal Health encourages use of its managed care services

9th February 2010

Cardinal Health is encouraging more organisations to make use of its extended managed care network, as it approaches the 3,000-member mark.

Within the last year, the firm has more than doubled the number of long-term care contracts it offers members of LeaderNET – its comprehensive managed care offering.

Furthermore, it recently added contracts for niche markets including immunisations and 90-day medication supply programmes.

It also offers participating pharmacies access to a support team that can provide audit assistance and answers to managed care, reimbursement questions and general queries.

“One of the key reasons why a growing number of independent pharmacies use our managed care services is that they consistently deliver tangible results,” commented Steve Lawrence, senior vice-president of independent sales for the group.

Cardinal Health experienced a year-on-year revenue increase of three per cent during the second quarter of its fiscal year, its latest earnings results showed.

The company generated $24.9 billion (15.8 billion pounds) during the three-month period – up from $24.1 billion the year before.
