Cardinal Health launches Presource procedure packs

18th July 2007

Cardinal Health has announced the launch of a prepackaged kit for physicians providing the key surgical components necessary for everyday cosmetic surgery procedures.

The Presource standard cosmetic surgery packs are available for a range of operations, including abdominoplasty, blepharoplasty, facial rhytidectomy, rhinoplasty and breast augmentation, reduction and lift.

Physicians can also order custom configurations of these surgical procedure packs.

It is hoped that the provision of a universal standard of disposable components for these procedures will result in a reliable supply of equipment and a reduction in set-up time before operations, while also reducing waste and lowering procedure costs.

Steve Inacker, president and general manager of Cardinal Health, said: “As the demand for cosmetic surgery procedures continues to grow, health-care providers must be focused on improving the quality and safety of patient care, while also improving the efficiency with which that care is delivered.”

He added that the launch of the Presource procedure packs will help universalise practices, modernise the supply chain of disposable equipment and enhance the safety of operations.

In April 2007, Cardinal Health announced a partnership with the Premier healthcare alliance designed to standardise medical product terminology to lower the risk of allergic reactions and simplify searches on its electronic catalogue.
